Former Railways Minister John Peter Amewu Arrested in Connection with Failed 2 Million Sky Train Project
John Peter Amewu, the former Minister for Railways Development, has reportedly been arrested by National Security in connection with the failed2 million Sky Train project.
The arrest of the former Member of Parliament for Hohoe comes as investigations continue into the controversial project, which aimed to introduce a modern urban rail transport system in Ghana but ultimately failed to materialize.
According to reports, the previous Akufo-Addo administration allocated $2 million for the project, which has since been deemed unsuccessful. Amewu, who played a key role in overseeing the country’s railway sector, is now under scrutiny regarding his involvement in the agreement and the financial commitments made during the deal.
This latest development has raised concerns about accountability in government contracts and public infrastructure projects. National Security officials have yet to release additional details about the charges or legal proceedings Amewu may face.
