President John Dramani Mahama has relieved Dr. George Akuffo Dampare of his position as Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and appointed his deputy, Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu, as his successor.
The decision was made public in a press statement issued by the presidency on Friday, March 13, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister for Government Communications.
The statement revealed that President Mahama made the appointment in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution, following consultations with the Council of State.
